Revamp means more funding

April 30, 2009 by canterburygreens

From Torch Canterbury on April 30th, 2009

CANTERBURY Council’s $75,000 Financial Assistance Program (FAP) is being revamped, with money now available to purchase decorations.

Cr Linda Eisler proposed during last month’s meeting to have funding available to organisations who wish to purchase decorations for celebrations such as Christmas, Ramadan and Chinese New Year.

A council report read that priority will be given to Chambers of Commerce seeking support for the decoration of shop fronts in town centres.

Amended changes to the FAP guidelines include reinforcing a priority to assist groups that have no other means of funding, are located in the Canterbury LGA, and provide services or activities for local residents, with a maximum grant of $2,000.

Applications for funding will open mid-year.
